Vitu was founded in 2005 by Don Armstrong, who created the nation’s first online vehicle and watercraft registration renewal system for the state of Michigan, and Kelly Kimball, who is widely recognized as an early innovator of eGovernment consulting with governments worldwide. Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Kimball joined forces with Rob Cohen of Auto Advisory Services (now KPA), a leading dealership compliance consulting company in the State of California, to develop Vitu’s title and registration solution that was built on the principles of transparency and compliance.
Now in 2021, Vitu has over 260 employees with eight offices in seven states, currently processing over 400,000 vehicle title and registration transactions (ERT) per month. Vitu entered into the California market with DMVdesk in 2005 and began processing ERT for dealership customers in 2007. Today, Vitu currently provides electronic title and registration solutions in Illinois, Indiana, Oregon, Montana, Virginia and was recently awarded a contract in Minnesota. Other than in-state transactions, Vitu also provides national, 50-state title and registration processing with Vitu Interstate.
In addition to ERT solutions, Vitu was awarded a contract by the California Department of Motor Vehicles to provide a retail point-of-sale solution to all 178 DMV field offices throughout the state, and facilitate the payment processing of vehicle registrations, drivers license renewals and other DMV retail transactions.
