Scholarship Foundation Privacy Policy

The California New Car Dealers Association Scholarship Foundation (“Foundation”) is committed to protecting the privacy rights of applicants that apply for scholarships offered by the Foundation, as well as persons that donate to the Foundation.  This policy is designed to explain what information is collected, what we use it for, who we share it with, and other aspects how we maintain this information. 

Student Application Data

Participation in our Foundation Scholarship is voluntary. To be considered for this Scholarship, we require you to submit data about yourself so we may review your application to assure eligibility and consider you for an award. Types of personally identifiable information collected for this purpose may include but is not limited to: 

  • full name 
  • address
  • email address and phone numbers
  • gender
  • ethnicity
  • academic information
  • current and future enrollment information
  • involvement in work, school, and community activities
  • birthdate

Information you provide about yourself will be used to evaluate your eligibility for the scholarship and to correspond directly with you. 

Donor Data

The Foundation is committed to the privacy and security of all donors. Any information provided by donors is provided voluntarily and is protected in a commercially reasonable manner. We do not sell, share, or trade donor information and will not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations without specific permission to do so. 

Any donor information provided for donation processing through a third-party service provider will be used only as necessary to process the donation. All processing of payments and related information, including by third party service providers, is protected by industry standard safeguards.

Email Information

We may retain your email address and the content of email correspondence with you if you choose to correspond with us via email.  

Sharing of Information with Third Parties

The Foundation works with a third party (Scholarship America) to collect, process, and maintain scholarship application data (You can access Scholarship America’s privacy policy here: https://scholarshipamerica.org/privacy/). The Foundation may also share your data with the Foundation’s corporate parent (the California New Car Dealers Association). 

How does the Foundation Secure Personal Information?

To secure your personal information, we use commercially reasonable physical, technological, and administrative safeguards. These safeguards are designed to protect your data from unauthorized use, access, or disclosure. 

If your data is breached, we will notify you as required by law.

Notice of Modifications to Privacy Policy 

This Privacy Policy is effective as of April 2, 2021 and may be modified from time to time at our sole discretion.
